L'amitié 1 & 2
L’amitié Pt. 1 (2025) This piece in particular reflects on the complexities of committed friendship and how we can be deeply connected yet still experience moments of disconnect. This piece depicts two women standing face-to-face, but not quite eye to eye, symbolizing the challenge of fully seeing one another’s perspective, even with love and effort present. Their flowing hair becomes part of the story as one ponytail rises freely, expressing a more optimistic and imaginative outlook, while the other is drawn, downward, grounded by gravity & impracticality. Though their approaches may differ the balance they create together, speaks to the imperfect, but intentional work of showing up for ourselves and for each other.
L’amitié Pt. 2 (2025) - this illustration continues the exploration of committed friendship, though this time through the lens of protection, grief and solidarity. The figures are shown in an intimate huddle, leaning into each other. One figure in visible sorrow, and the other offering, quiet, comfort, yet visibly enraged by the pain she’s forced to witness. This piece in particular honors the emotional labor and fierce devotion, often carried by women in friendship and communities alike, especially in the aftermath of harm. It reflects how many of us have seen our closest friends suffer at the hands of abusive people, and how that heartbreak feuls both a deep sense of care and an internal fire to protect what matters most.
